These sweet potato and salmon patties are one of those recipes that feel both comforting and fresh at the same time. Soft and slightly sweet on the inside, crispy on the outside, and packed with flavor — they’re perfect for lunch, dinner, or even meal prep.
Ingredients
- 400 g sweet potato
- 250–300 g salmon (fresh or cooked)
- 1 egg
- 3–4 tbsp flour (or breadcrumbs)
- 1–2 cloves garlic, minced
- salt, pepper
- 1 tsp paprika or chili flakes (optional)
- oil for frying
For serving:
yogurt or sour cream, lemon, fresh herbs
Instructions
- Peel and cut the sweet potato into chunks, then boil until soft. Drain well and mash until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
- If using fresh salmon, cook it first (pan-seared or baked), then flake it into small pieces. Remove any bones and skin.
- In a bowl, combine mashed sweet potato, salmon, egg, flour, garlic, salt, pepper, and spices. Mix until you get a soft but shapeable mixture. If it feels too wet, add a little more flour.
- Form into patties with your hands.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the patties until golden and crispy on both sides, about 3–4 minutes per side.
To Serve
Serve warm with a spoon of yogurt or sour cream, a squeeze of lemon, and fresh herbs.
Tips
For extra flavor, add chopped green onions or fresh herbs to the mixture.
You can also bake them at 180°C (350°F) for about 20–25 minutes instead of frying.
